Breaking: IPOB rejects Arewa Youths’ quit notice withdrawal, asks all Igbos to return home

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has rejected the withdrawal of the quit notice earlier issued to all easterners living in the northern region by the coalition of Arewa Youths Consultation Forum.

The Arewa youths, under the aegis of Coalition of Northern Groups, Thursday withdrew its quit notice to Ndigbo but said it would continue to push for the re-arrest of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu as well as tagging the Biafran group a terrorist body.

Arewa youths & Nnamdi Kanu
The Arewa group had issued a three months eviction order to all Nigerians of Igbo extraction living in the northern region to vacate the north before October 1, 2017 or face physical attacks.

However, before the expiration of the order, the group made a volt farce, withdrawing the order yesterday.

But IPOB has rejected the withdrawal, urging the Arewa Youths to stick to the eviction order if they have integrity.
IPOB slao urged all Igbos and other southerners living in the north to ignore the withdrawal and come home.

In a statement signed by it’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, IPOB said If the idea is to cow their leader with calls for his arrest, then “those behind the genocidal edict of ‘Igbos must leave the North’ are even dumber than we thought.”

The statement partly read thus:
“It is inconsequential to IPOB whether the ‘quit notice’ was rescinded or not because it will in no way impact the pace and direction of our effort to restore Biafra.

“Threats don’t have any effect on us, so our advice to the Arewa North is to please stick to the October 1 deadline or else they have no honour.

“We urge all southerners in the core North to return home before October 1 as history will most definitely repeat itself.

“Southerners were massacred in the pogroms of 1966 and 1967 after similar assurances were issued then that people should remain in the North.”

“The presence of a serving governor and senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria during the supposed press briefing confirms what we have always known that the incitement to genocide, which is what the ‘quit notice’ is all about, has the blessing of the Arewa political class.”

IPOB also said the leaders of the Arewa Youths should be arrested just like they are calling for the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu.

“If President Muhammadu Buhari is at all serious about clamping down on hate speech, he should arrest those behind the ‘quit notice’ along with their sponsors,” IPOB said.

“Trying to drag the name of our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, into their unintelligent blood fest will be resisted.

“If the idea is to cow our leader with calls for his arrest, then those behind the genocidal edict of ‘Igbos must leave the North’ are even dumber than we thought.

“Nigeria is crumbling today before our eyes due to the arrest of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu; those wishing for him to be arrested again are basically signing the death warrant of Nigeria,”

UI Rejects JAMB’s 120 Admission Cut-off Mark

The management of the University of Ibadan (UI) has condemned and rejected the new Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) cut off marks for universities admission for 2017/2018 academic calendar.

The university management’s position was contained in school’s statement entitled: “On the Recently Announced cut off Marks of 120 for University Admission: our position in UI.”
In the statement released from the Office of the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Abel Idowu Olayinka, UI said the management of the institution was not ready to lower its standards.

The statement reads: “The Management of the University of Ibadan wishes to inform the public about the recently announced cut off marks of 120 for University Admission that UI will not lower her standards.

“The Nigeria’s premier university still maintains her position in academic excellence and standards in order to continue to aspire towards becoming a world-class university.

“It should worry us as patriots that candidates who scored just 30% in UTME can be admitted into some of our universities. Yet, we complain of poor quality of our graduates. You can hardly build something on nothing. The consolation here is that since JAMB started conducting this qualifying exam in 1978, UI has never admitted any candidate who scored less than 200 marks out of the maximum 400 marks.

“This translates to a minimum of 50%. This remains our position as an institution aspiring to be world -class. Reality is that only about four other universities in the country have such high standard. To that extent, apart from being the oldest, we are an elite university in the country at least judging by the quality of our intakes.

“In fairness to the Registrar of JAMB, Prof Ishaq Oloyede, he repeatedly stressed at the Combined Policy Meeting held Tuesday, 22 August, 2017 that the Senate of each university still has wide powers for admission in the spirit of autonomy. It is also gratifying to note that the Honourable Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, who chaired the meeting, apologised publicly for canceling Post UTME Screening last year.

“In effect, universities are now allowed to conduct PostUTME test, using modalities approved by the Senate of each institution. To be fair to the incumbent Registrar of JAMB, he was not the Registrar when the policy somersault of cancelling POST UTME test was made last year. Prof Oloyede’s appointment was effective 1 August 2016, while the Policy Meeting for that year had held some two months earlier.

“As strongly canvassed by us at every opportunity, for UI, the need to admit the best admission seekers is the primary motivation for POST UTME test and not money, even though we do not pretend that you can run any university so properly called without funds.”

Arewa youths finally bow to pressure, withdraw Igbo quit notice

The Coalition of Northern Youth Groups (CNYG) has finally withdrawn the “quit notice” issued Nigerians of the Igbo extraction to leave the 19 Northern states by October 1.

The groups had in June 6, 2017 issued quit notice to Igbos to vacate the region on or before  1st October

The coalition said that the quit notice it issued was in response to the breakaway agitation by IPOB led by Nnamdi Kanu

The CNYG’s decision to withdraw the quit notice followed series of meetings with numerous stakeholders, TVC has reported.

A MUST READ: NOTICE TO ALL 2017/18 JAMBITES

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL 2O17/18 JAMBITES

Congratulations to all successful 2017 JAMBITES, who made it across the general benchmark (cut-off) for this year’s JAMB.  Having attained this height most aspirants are feeling relaxed, yet hoping they secure an admission slot in the varsities of their choice, anxiously lying in wait for that golden opportunity to study their DREAM course. The same dream shared by about 1.5 million candidates less than a year ago, not surprising that 90% of last year’s candidates are constitutes of this year’s 1.6 million JAMB candidates still dreaming up till this very moment and they will continue to dream as long as they keep sleeping, for the only thing that comes to sleeping men is nothing but dreams.

PASSING THE CUT-OFF IS NOT ENOUGH

They all share the sole aim of achieving success, yet, every year only infinitesimal individuals out of the multitude are most likely to seize the moment to successfully get admitted, and celebrate as matriculants, it is to this joyful end that this write-up is geared. As you read on, you would come to realize that indeed you could be among the chosen few amongst the many that were called.
It’s no longer news that the barn on post university matriculation exams PUME has been lifted; this implies therefore that university aspirants are expected to make it across this last huddle-Post university matriculation examination (PUME), before they can wear the matriculation gown of their respected varsities. This is sounding surprisingly new to some and pleasant to many, most especially to those with poor O’Level grades, whom have previously thought all hopes were lost to study their dream course but Ha-ha! All hopes weren’t lost. Maybe not just yet.  As you read on the doors would be opened to you as to how you can make good grades in the fourth coming Post University Matriculation Examination, PUME.

MODEL OF THE EXAMINATION
The post university matriculation examination as the name implies is an examination tested on a candidate by the University of his/her choice(s) to determine the admission of the aspirant as an undergraduate of the university. It will likewise, interest you to know that, this is actually the final exam and main determinant of gaining admission into Nigerian universities for the 2017/18academic session. The examination is set by the university WITHOUT the assistance or interference of any other examination body or education parastatal. Most universities some up the aggregate score by combining both a candidates JAMB score and PUME score (e.g. UNN, UNILAG). And to your surprise some universities DO NOT combine JAMB score with PUME score in the aggregates. These set of universities make use of ONLY PUME scores in awarding admissions e.g. The University of Ibadan (UI). And even not so rewarding and the universities combining the JAMB & PUME scores makes use of only about less than 30% of the JAMB score.

WHAT IS NEEDED TO SUCCEED IN PUME
In the past most JAMBITES always seem prepared for PUME and yet still fail this so called dread examination.  Most that often failed the examination did not just fail inside the examination hall but had already failed long before the examination was conducted.

BUT WHY?…
Simple because they failed to practice along with the PUME PAST QUESTIONS for their desired school of choice.  If you’ve been a victim don’t allow history repeat itself, Agbojadavid.blogspot.com.ng had made all the necessary provisions. We’ve successfully gathered ALL THE PUME PAST QUESTIONS of most sought after universities(UNN,UI,OAU,UNIZIK,UNIPORT,UNIBEN,UNILAG amongst others) and they’re readily AVAILABLE IN HARD COPY with a few in soft copy(PDF) and a save way in which they can be delivered at your door step. Hurry now and contact us for your copy.

If this would be your first attempt at PUME please I indulge you to take precaution, because the best cure is prevention. You woundnt be happy re-reading this post one year later and wishing; “If only I ordered for the PAST QUESTIONS”. ‘The first step to success is determination the final step is ACTION’
 Why not order NOW!

Schools Can Conduct the post–UTME Exam If They Want–FG

The Federal Government has lifted the ban on the conduct of Post-UTME aptitude test/examinations usually conducted by schools for candidates seeking admission.
This was made known by the Minister of Education Adamu Adamu in Abuja.

According to him, universities, polytechnics and other institutions are free to organise post-UTME screening as a pre-condition to gaining admission into public institution.

He explained that the Federal Government scrapped the controversial examination in order to fully understand what was going on in the institutions.

The minister added that the government was now wiser regarding the conduct of the examination.

He however urged institutions and its authorities to make the fees for the post-UTME screening affordable in order not to impose huge financial burdens on parents.

Nationwide strike: ASUU To Decide This Weekend

It has been reported that the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, will hold a crucial meeting this weekend to determine if the union will proceed on a nation wide strike action.

ASUU had earlier asked all its branches in the various universities to conduct referendum of members to decide whether or not a nationwide strike should be held over its demands.

The final decision on the strike is expected to be made after a review of the referendum conducted by the chapters.

An earlier deadline given by ASUU to the federal government to meet its demands ended today (Friday).

The scheduled meeting where ASUU will take its final decision starts today (Friday) and ends on Sunday (August 13) in Abuja.

ASUU major demands include issues concerning the welfare of members as well as funding of universities among others. The Union and the federal government have been negotiating these demands since November 2016.
